I am an LCSW, a Diplomate of the American Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work and a Certified Group Psychotherapist. I have engaged in the full-time private practice of psychotherapy since 1960. For almost all that time I have been an enthusiastic advocate of group psychotherapy, and have maintained six on-going groups in addition to a full schedule of individual sessions.
I've studied at CCNY, NYU, Princeton University, Rutgers University, and Columbia University. I've taught at several local colleges and has served as a field teacher for the University of Southern California School of Social Work.
My experience has included residential treatment, child guidance, play therapy, and supervision in various settings. I was the first full-time professional employee of the Los Angeles Suicide prevention Center at its inception. I was chief Psychiatric Social Worker when I left.
I have done many demonstrations and lectures in Los Angeles and in other parts of the United States and Canada. On two occasions, I've addressed the American Psychiatric Association. In 2006, I was awarded the prestigious VIDA (Vision, Innovation, Dedication, Achievement) award by the Group Psychotherapy Association of Southern California.
My writings have been published in many journals including the American Journal of Psychiatry and the American Journal of Psychotherapy, and include two chapters in the new book, 101 interventions in Group Psychotherapy.
I also hold an MFT license from the state of California, am a Licentiate Member of the Royal Society of Health of Great Britain, and was President of the Group Psychotherapy Association of Southern California for two successive terms.
